Facebook has recently rolled out a pages only newsfeed.
And I have seen recently, too many small businesses, ummm, freak out, in a way that really isn’t warranted.
Facebook Pages only news feed, in fact can actually be a good thing for your brand. You won’t need to be too worried about competing with fans’ friends to get your brands’ Facebook posts in front of them. Facebook has created Pages Feed just for your business who has a page on Facebook. This isn’t to say that every status update, or picture you upload will show in the fans ‘page feed’. There is a lot of other factors that go into play.
According to Facebook Edgerank Algorithm the fans that have ‘liked’ you, years ago, and who haven’t interacted with you for quite some time, will likely not see your updates, but why would you want them to. They are not interacting with you anyways, so whats the big deal. Having a Page Feed only will help your brand to truly interact with the fans that are really interested in your business.
Per a Facebook spokesperson: “We’re continuing to optimize News Feed to show the posts that people are most likely to engage with, ensuring they see the most interesting stories. This aligns with our vision that all content should be as engaging as the posts you see from friends and family.” via AdWeek
So you see, getting in front of your audience really shouldn’t be too difficult, provided you are producing content that is engaging, related to your fans and, well interesting. And while it may be too tempting to post multiple times per day (like four or five or six…) it is not recommended. The key is not to bombard fans with too many posts. When it comes to your Facebook page, less is more. Facebook News Feed optimization often penalizes for posting too many times in a day. So be careful!
